Testing the maximum title tag length

There has been some debate about the maximum number of characters that Google will display in a snippet from a page's title tag.

I'd always thought - on the basis of some observations - that it was 65 characters - or that 65 characters was the maximum where you'd be guaranteed to get all of your keywords displayed in the snippet.

However it occurred to me that as Google does not use a fixed-width font in its results, the number of characters displayed might not be the only determining factor. So I've created this page, which repeats the nine-letter string "lllllllll" seven times, and then has some shorter strings at the end.

Obviously what I'm seeking to do is to get this page indexed, and see how many characters I can get into my title. If it works I shall do something with some fatter characters as well, perhaps a series of capital Bs.
